The U.S. Space Force has granted SpaceX and United Launch Alliance (ULA) rocket contracts worth $2.5 billion. The contracts encompass 21 missions expected to take place in the next two to three years.

Final Round of National Security Space Launch Phase 2

The missions announced recently mark the end of the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Phase 2 contract orders. This contract was won by both SpaceX and ULA in 2020.

SpaceX and ULA Missions

SpaceX has been assigned 10 new missions with a total value of $1.23 billion. ULA, a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin, has been granted 11 missions, worth approximately $1.3 billion.

Phase 2 Commitment and Future Prospects

Under the Phase 2 contract, both ULA and SpaceX have shown commitment as partners. The combined team remains focused on delivering critical assets to the warfighters. As this phase of the NSSL program concludes, the focus will shift towards NSSL Phase 3, which is expected to commence in FY25. This statement was issued by Col. Chad Melone, who is the Senior Material Leader for Mission Solutions at the Space Systems Command.
