OpenAI Unveils Enhanced AI Model and Personalized Chatbots

Published about 1 year ago

OpenAI has revealed its new GPT-4 Turbo artificial intelligence model, which offers the ability to create custom versions of its popular ChatGPT chatbot. The company has also announced it is reducing the fees associated with its software use.

GPT-4 Turbo: An Advanced AI Model

GPT-4 Turbo, the latest AI model from OpenAI, now provides answers with context up to April 2023, unlike previous versions which were limited to January 2022. For instance, the new model can answer questions about events such as the Super Bowl that took place in February 2022. The model also accepts much more input, capable of handling up to 300 pages compared to the previous limit of about 3,000 words. This improvement allows the AI to summarise entire books.

GPT-4 Turbo also supports DALL-E 3 AI-generated images and text-to-speech, featuring six preset voices. Developers can preview GPT-4 Turbo now, and it will be released to all in the coming weeks. Developers should also see a decrease in costs, with GPT-4 Turbo input tokens being 3x cheaper than GPT-4 at $0.01, and output tokens being 2x cheaper at $0.03.

Personalized Chatbots for All

OpenAI is introducing the option for anyone to create custom chatbots, expanding on its previous enterprise and business offerings. There is no coding required to create these AI “agents”, and developers can customize them to suit various industries and use cases.

In addition to this, OpenAI is launching its version of the app store, the GPT Store. Developers can make their AI creations available for public download, and in the coming months, they will be able to earn money based on the usage numbers of their creations.

Streamlined AI Tools

OpenAI has simplified user access to its tools by integrating all its AI tools into one place. This means users can now generate images via DALL-E, browse data, upload documents, and search PDFs all within ChatGPT.

As legal action related to generative AI use increases, OpenAI has pledged to defend its customers and cover any costs incurred due to legal claims around copyright infringement. This move mirrors similar statements made by tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Adobe.

OpenAI’s announcements show the company is continuously evolving its offerings to maintain a competitive edge in the tech industry. With over 100 million weekly active users and over 92% of Fortune 500 companies using the platform, OpenAI is a significant player in the AI field.
