Hamas Claims 70 Killed in Gaza Aid Incident, IDF Denies

Published 10 months ago

Hamas health officials have reported that over 70 Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid in Gaza City were killed by Israeli forces. The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) has denied these claims, stating that while aid was being delivered to the northern Gaza Strip, a “violent gathering” broke out, leading to injuries due to pushing and trampling. The IDF has announced that this incident is currently under review.

IDF Response to the Incident

According to the IDF, the incident occurred when Palestinians began looting supplies from the trucks delivering the humanitarian aid. Subsequent to the incident, a portion of the crowd began to advance towards the Israeli forces in the area, who were in charge of coordinating the entry of the aid trucks. The IDF states that this movement “endangered” the troops, leading them to open fire. This second incident is also under investigation.

Ongoing Investigations

Details regarding the incident continue to emerge and the IDF has confirmed that both incidents are currently under investigation. The outcome of these investigations is expected to shed light on the tragic events that took place during the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza City. The situation has heightened tensions in the region, with each side blaming the other for the fatalities and injuries.
